Guide to Internet Cookies
Posted by Dave Wiltshire on August, 8th 2011If you are new to the internet then you could be forgiven for thinking that cookies are a type of delicious biscuit. If you’re not new to the internet then you will be aware that on 26 May 2011, the rules and regulations regarding cookies changed and that website owners have had to become more proactive in explaining to users how their details are used and stored.
We have put together a quick guide to cookies that will explain everything that you need to know about the regulation changes and what you can do to stay on the right side of the ICO.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers that are downloaded to a device e.g. a computer or mobile phone when the user accesses certain websites. These cookies allow the website to recognise the user’s device.

Payment Gateway Choices
Posted by Dave Wiltshire on August, 1st 2011
There are many payment gateway options out there for e-commerce stores and when you are new to selling online, choosing between all the payment gateway providers can be really stressful.
Some providers charge all kinds of fees, joining fees, per transaction fees and % of transaction costs, but with so many companies out there offering completely different payment gateway solutions, how do you decide which is the best for you and your business?
Unfortunately, it’s not as straightforward as choosing the cheapest provider based on the size of your business and your average basket value. If problems arise then you would need to speak with someone about the matter immediately and come to a swift resolution. When it comes to something as vital as your payment gateway, the level of customer service your provider offers should be a top concern for you.

Graham and Green Number One for Home Accessories
Posted by Dave Wiltshire on June, 29th 2011Some time ago we were approached by the well known contemporary home accessories brand Graham and Green. Our remit for the project was to create a new website with better technology, targeted infrastructure and better order and customer management. In the early discussions we set out our intentions (on the block) to help grow the online business by 30% this year.
Graham & Green set out the search Home Accessories as the dream keyword and they we not ranking at all well for it. Along with a lot of other target phrases we have gained Number 1 (Numero Uno) result for the search phrase, just above Debenhams and House of Fraser.

[...]New Design for Godine Booking Service
Posted by Dave Wiltshire on May, 23rd 2011Godine is a really personal project for us as we have been heavily involved from conception as well as enjoying a long history of friendship with the company. Long have we been discussing a new web design with the team at Godine and recently we have got the go ahead. In honesty the old design is a few years out of date and in some ways has a little too much of the look and feel of the ‘clowns pocket’.
As such we are introducing some new current styles with a lot of thought towards a more on brand look and feel, with a heavy lean towards conversion. We have removed the weight of colour in the site to restructure the heirarchy of information and call to action with a view to increasing business revenue.
Alongside this we have undertaken a wholesale search and internet marketing [...]
Web Design in Nottingham
Posted by Dave Wiltshire on May, 20th 2011
Based in Nottingham, Juno Web Design are proud to be be working alongside many local businesses in the Nottinghamshire area. We focus on mainly eCommerce websites and brochure websites for services and organisations.
Our Web Design Nottingham team have now created over 300 websites; each team member has the skill and experience required to solve unique problems quickly and never shy away from any new challenges.
Juno’s websites are not the cheapest in Nottingham, but they are extremely good value for money when you consider how a cheap website can hold your business back.
We know that slow development times are the most frustrating issue for a client waiting for a new website. The Juno team is split into different groups that can simultaneously build different sections of a new website in parallel; this vastly reduces the development [...]

Search Bar Optimisation
Posted by Dave Wiltshire on April, 15th 2011
Many ecommerce websites, either large or small, perform better with a search bar to find specific products. They are a feature that’s installed once and then usually forgotten about completely, let’s look at ways to optimise your search bar to improve conversion rates:
Make the search bar easy to find – If you want your ecommerce website to be accessible to the biggest market possible then you have to make it almost ‘idiot-proof’. Place it right at the top of your website, most people look for search bars in the top-right or top-left corner. The search bar needs a tag next to it saying something simple like “Search: “, “Search Products: ” or “Find Products: “, an empty field will get less uses. Also have a “Go” or “Search Now” button directly right of the search box to perform the actual [...]
