Nobility Chair Covers – Now #2 in Google.co.uk

Nobility Chair Covers originally had their website designed by Juno but found that their search engine position was letting them down when it came to making sales.  Other chair cover companies were utilising SEO to win business in the wedding sector so Nobility came back to Juno for help with SEO.

Mary who runs the website was instructed to create compelling blog posts on Nobility’s wedding chair blog whilst the SEO team worked their magic.  Blogging regularly has many advantages for SEO including:

  - A “fresh” website with new content appearing at regular intervals
  - More pages of content on the website (each blog post counts as a new page)
  - More key-phrases that could bring in traffic (more long-tail keywords that could rank in Google)
  - Lots of great information about the company for people to read

We have taken on the already existing web design and are redesigning the interface for conversion, here is the new design for the homepage that focuses on selling the benefits of the product range.

Deep linking into subpages

When performing SEO on your website are you just simply linking to your website’s main page?

Every backlink you create for your website adds power to whichever page it links to; backlinking just to your homepage may seem to be the best idea to many people but it isn’t the best way to traffic.

If you links to subpages on your site then these pages too have backlink power. The beauty of subpages on your site is that they can be targeted to one specific subject making them a lot more likely to rank in search engines such as Google when someone types in a related keyword.

Your homepage may mention many different areas of what your business has to offer, lets say for example you sold sports equipment, you could have many differently themed pages on ‘football’, ‘cricket’, ‘tennis’ etc.
The homepage of this website ... (Read more)

Google Banned in Turkey

Turkish officials have accidentally banned Google’s ip addresses from their country after their on-going row with the video sharing site YouTube.

According to ‘The Register‘ YouTube hosted videos insulting the republic founder of Turkey and the courts have power to remove any site doing so.

Google owns YouTube and has been heavily critisised for letting these actions happen; YouTube allows anyone to upload a video so many incidences of offensive videos have happened over it’s lifetime.  Thousands of videos are uploaded per day on YouTube so it has become impossible to monitor every single one when the factor of costs is considered.

Locals in Turkey cannot access many of Google’s services including Google Translate and Google Docs that are used by many business people to do online jobs.  This ‘accident’ could have a knock on effect on Google’s presence in Turkey and will ... (Read more)

SEO Myth Debunked – NoFollow Links May Still Add Value to SEO

If your SEO strategy does not include NoFollow links, you might need to rethink your strategy. You see, various SEO e-books caution online marketers about “NoFollow” links being useless to SEO. This is a myth that is being perpetuated by antiquated SEO e-books that misinform their readers.

This myth did have some solid basis before. Years ago, Google introduced the NoFollow tag to prevent blog spammers from getting backlinks when they comment on blogs. WordPress followed suit by implementing the NoFollow tag on their comment links. This discourages people from spamming blogs with useless content.

The self-proclaimed SEO “gurus” then devised a way to go around this new Google rule. They advised millions of people to look for “DoFollow” blogs. According to these “gurus,” you can get precious backlinks from these blogs even if you don’t include useful content on your web sites.

Websites also used to add ... (Read more)

Web Design Across Cultures

world-flag-languagesWebsite localisation is the way of the future – 78% of all internet users aren’t native English speakers and that number is increasing all the time. This changing of the guard means it’s becoming increasingly necessary for websites to think beyond a purely English-speaking audience when it comes to their online presence.

In fact, the bar is constantly being raised – not long ago a website with ten different language options was considered to be a global website, today you need more than 20 different localised sites to be considered truly ‘global’.

Even if you have no intention of developing localised, fully translated domains for a broad range of target countries, the increasing sophistication of automated online translation tools like Google Translate means that, even if you’re only planning to use English on your site, it’s now reasonably understandable and accessible for speakers of ...
