New Commenting Policy

This is just a short post to let you all know that as of today March 2nd 2009 i am changing the commenting policy of  this news blog. As so many bloggers are now posting lists of blogs that carry the top commenters plugin that is resulting in a lot of comment spam on this blog for SEO purpose.

Although i don’t mind short replies to blog posts what i do mind is people using this as an opportunity to leave a quick backlink to their web design / blog using their keywords.

So as of today all comments must be made using your own real name i.e Joe Bloggs. All comments that are received using keywords as the name will still be approved but the Url will be removed and the name changed to Anon.

We are currently recruiting by the way… so if you are looking for a web design job

  • It’s probably not a bad time to add a policy like this. I decided that, instead of adding a policy, I’m changing any names that I don’t know the real name for to only the initials, then I’ll respond. Maybe; because if the comment looks spammy then I just delete the entire thing.

  • Establishing a comment dictatorship will not help this blog to grow mate. I have never seen any other blog making such a policy. Even large blogs allow use of keywords or site names in the Name field. I am starting the trend of never commenting on this blog again, unless this policy is relaxed.Richael Neet’s last blog post..The Blogging Park – Where blogging is fun!

  • The policy will not be reversed. I dont mind if i dont get comments i really could`nt care less. What i do mind is people leaving a quick reply just to get a free backlink. There a lots of blogs now starting to do this, and as for the top blogs i could`nt care less what they do, comments are not the most important part of a blog.

  • Yeah, comment spam is a real pain now. Sometimes i am close to forbid commenting on my blogs but on the other hand, feedback is all this is about

  • I don’t blame you. Something’s got to be done about the blog spamming! I have three active blogs, two of which are fine – I get valid, valuable comments. The other one – oh my! Pure spam constantly! In my opinion, it’s your blog and you can run it however you want! Cheers!Melanie’s last blog post..Living off the grid – What are the Advantages? Is it Even Feasible?
