Yes I use these tips too. I do have a 'why Subscribe' page too but have yet to write my 'about me' page although I have a short version of this after every post, with a picture. I think it helps too. Yes, having a subscribe link visible is very important. After all, if its hard to find, who will sign up? Another great thing is to have a post or page that is easily accessible which explains the benefits. I'd suggest a page over a post, so that its something more static. Yo Happy New Year! You're right, there's nothing wrong with writing a post detailing why people should subscribe to your blog. Second, having the RSS feed icon visible is a smart idea, especially if your site as tons of activity and it may not be clear to victors where they can sign up for your feed.
