Are there any old techniques that really do work when trying to get your content up on the rankings? Is it that simple? Probably not as simple as we thought, Google has moved on, technology has moved on, the way we consume and interact has changed. Gone are the days when we can write articles, which are full of terrible text.
These days Google will pick up on anything that poses as spam. Using too many key words, creating too many links back to your site will get you kicked off and locked out. Things change every day, filters become extreme, and allow or dis allow certain things. Sites are analysed and checked thousands of times a day.
Some of the old ways of ranking which can still use today are tricks like Anchor Text and buying links.
Anchor text is visible text or hyperlink to another website. This used to allow search engines to pick up the links and rank them up the listings. Today key words and using social media tends to be able to rank your site. You have to be clever and beat the search engines without being chuck out.
It is all about high quality content from high quality copywriters. You have to get traffic coming to your site, and keep on returning, you want these people to share your content through social media, or creating their own links to your site. Act as a brand, even if you create different identities on a social media site such as Twitter.
If you use Google you need to utilise all the free SEO tools they offer such as the Google Places so when people search for your business or similar businesses, your page will pop up with a map, this is fantastic for the local area and local businesses. Google will tell you how you can get your sites up high in the rankings.
At the end of the day Google wants high quality content which is shared across social media, don’t try and beat Google, join it, and abuse it to boost your sites.
