FREE webinar: An introduction to Shopify POS

At Juno, we talk a lot about the power of Shopify – but what about Shopify POS?

If you’ve got a Shopify store – regardless of which package you’re on – you’ll automatically have access to Shopify POS. It’s as simple as downloading the app, signing in, and you’re ready to start selling on the go.

But there’s a lot more to the Shopify POS than just selling. From adding discounts and accepting gift cards to processing refunds and creating personalised customer profiles, you can use your POS app to provide customers with an exceptional shopping experience.

To help you get started, we’ve laid out the key things you need to know about using the Shopify POS app, including access to a free webinar demonstration from the Shopify team.

What is Shopify POS?

Shopify POS (Point of Sale) is a mobile platform that allows you to sell your products in-person, in-store, or on the go. Through the app, you can process orders, accept payments, offer refunds and print or send receipts, all done from your Android device, iPad or iPhone. With certain Shopify packages, you’ll also get access to a range of Shopify POS hardware – such as receipt printers, barcode scanners and cash drawers.

Whether you run multiple brick-and-mortar retail stores or you’re just interested in selling the odd bits at a market, Shopify POS has everything you need for in-person selling.

Shopify POS plans

All Shopify plans include access to the Shopify POS app – so, even if you’re on the lowest tier, you’ll still be able to sell on the go. The more advanced your Shopify package is, the more POS features you’ll have access to.

Selling in pop-up stores, markets or in-person: Every Shopify plan supports selling in-person using Shopify POS. If your aim is to sell products occasionally at markets, pop-up shops or fairs, Shopify Lite and Basic Shopify include everything you need to start selling.

Selling in brick-and-mortar stores: If you’re looking to use Shopify POS in a physical retail store, you’ll need a more advanced plan – such as Shopify, Advanced Shopify or Shopify Plus. With one of these plans, you’ll also be able to accept store credit and gift cards, monitor cash register shifts, scan barcodes and print receipts.

Syncing POS with your Shopify admin

If you’re already using Shopify to power your online sales, using Shopify’s POS software to sell in-person is a no brainer. Rather than inputting the same data multiple times into your website, POS app and marketplaces, Shopify syncs the data across all your sales channels. So, when you add a product to your Shopify admin, it’s automatically added to your POS app – unless you set a rule to exclude it from that channel (for example, if it’s an online-exclusive product).
